Ross Taubman

Ross Taubman, DPM, President and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ross Taubman became president and chief medical officer in 2012. Before joining PICA, Dr. Taubman had been in practice in Maryland since 1985. He received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from California College of Podiatric Medicine. He has served in many capacities in local and national podiatric associations, including president of the American Podiatric Medical Association and president of the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association.

Margaret Christian, MBA, Senior Vice President of Business Operations

Margaret Christian joined the company in 2004. Her experience includes supervising the life and long term care division of a large property and casualty insurance company, while managing regional business that included all functional areas of issuing new and existing business. She also managed a large customer service call center for three years prior to that.  Margaret holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Austin Peay State University and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Daniel Shrode, VP of Medical Claims

Daniel Shrode is the Vice President of Medical Claims and Risk Management at PICA. He has over 20 years of professional liability claims experience having joined the organization as a claim specialist in 1999. He assumed responsibility for the Medical Claims and Risk Management operations beginning in May 2020. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas State University, and holds the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America, as well as the Casualty Claims Law Associate (CCLA) designation from the American Educational Institute.

Mariah Wilson, MBA, Assistant Vice President of Medical Underwriting

Mariah Wilson is the AVP of Medical Underwriting at PICA. She has been with the company since 2014, but entered the insurance industry in 2004. She began her career in property/casualty and has been on the medical side since 2008. Ms. Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama Birmingham  and received her Master’s in Business Administration from Phoenix University. She also works closely with the tnAcheives non-profit program mentoring students in Tennessee to aspire to higher education.

Lisa Reese, Assistant Vice President of Customer Acquisition and Retention

Lisa Reese is the AVP of Customer Acquisition and Retention, and she oversees sales, marketing, and policy services at PICA. She joined the company in 2010 as an account manager and has over 12 years of experience working in sales, customer service, and management within the insurance industry. She received her Associate of Science, Information Systems from Jackson State Community College and her Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing from Middle Tennessee State University. Ms. Reese is also a Licensed Agent in Property and Casualty, and Health and Life.

Josh Chappell, Assistant Vice President of IT

Josh Chappell has 18 years of experience in Information Technology including development, business intelligence, data warehousing, operations, and ERP implementation. He has 10 years of experience in IT leadership, project management, building high-performance development teams, process improvement, and Agile coaching and transformation. He has a Master’s of Business Administration from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Certified Scrum Product Owner certification.
