Ross Taubman

Ross Taubman, DPM, President and Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ross Taubman became president and chief medical officer in 2012. Before joining PICA, Dr. Taubman had been in practice in Maryland since 1985. He received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from California College of Podiatric Medicine. He has served in many capacities in local and national podiatric associations, including president of the American Podiatric Medical Association and president of the Maryland Podiatric Medical Association.

Kathy Phillips

Kathy Phillips, RN, Vice President of Claims

Kathy Phillips joined the company in 2004.  Kathy, a registered nurse and former director of nursing, has nearly 30 years of experience in medical professional liability claims and risk management, holding various positions at a Nashville-based malpractice company and multi-system hospital.  She is professionally affiliated with the Tennessee Society for Healthcare Risk Management as a former board member and past state president, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and the Physician Insurers Association of America.

Margaret Christian

Margaret Christian, MBA, Vice President of Business Operations

Margaret Christian joined the company in 2004. Her experience includes supervising the life and long term care division of a large property and casualty insurance company, while managing regional business that included all functional areas of issuing new and existing business. She also managed a large customer service call center for three years prior to that.  Margaret holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Austin Peay State University and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Marcie Claas

Marcie Claas, PHR, ODCP, Human Resources Business Partner

Marcie Claas has been with PICA since 2001. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Georgia and received her Professional in Human Resources designation in 2003 and her Organizational Development Certified Professional designation in 2015. As Human Resources Business Partner for PICA, Marcie focuses on hiring and retaining the best talent for the organization, culture and internal communication, employee and management development, and organizational improvement.

Keith Gillespie

Keith Gillespie, CPA, Assistant Vice President of Information Technology

Keith Gillespie joined the company in 2007. He has over 20 years of experience in internal audit, information systems audit, financial reporting, planning and analysis, network administration and process improvement. Prior to joining PICA, he worked for a global insurance brokerage and in the healthcare industry focused on outpatient surgery centers. Keith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University.
