Safely Initiating and Monitoring Chronic Opioid Therapy
Course Description:
This course will teach healthcare providers how to initiate and continue opioid therapy for non-cancer pain patients in a manner that is safe for both the patient and the provider. Special focus will be placed on specific data points that substantiate the standard of legitimate medical purpose. Data point, method of determination and outcome will be presented as well as case studies that are commonly found in pain management settings.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the video, participants will be able to:
1. Have increased knowledge of the safe initiation of opioid therapy.
2. Gain increased knowledge of when to continue opioid therapy and for how long.
3. Obtain increased knowledge of how to create protocols that ensure each data point is addressed and documented.
