This video will provide information to assist podiatrists in determining if a patient is a good surgical candidate and in improving the informed consent process in order to reduce risk.

1. Understand the risks of poor patient selection.
2. Identify “red flags” in the patient selection process.
3. Utilize the history and physical to evaluate the patient’s candidacy for surgery.
4. Optimize the informed consent process.
